Shadowing Scheme

CUSU (the Cambridge University Students’ Union) runs a Shadowing Scheme for prospective students. This involves coming to Cambridge to spend time with a current Cambridge student who studies the subject you’re interested in.¬†Taking part in the Shadowing Scheme can give you a taste of what life at Cambridge is really like. You would shadow a current student as they take part in supervisions, lectures, and college life.

Who can take part?

The programme is especially aimed at students in Year 12 from schools who do not usually send many people to Cambridge. Applications from students who would be the first in their immediate family to go to university are especially welcome. There is also a mature students Shadowing Scheme for people who would be over 21 when starting university.

Is it free?

Participants in the Shadowing Scheme are given accommodation and meals within Cambridge colleges for free, and the cost of travelling to Cambridge can be reimbursed too.

When does it take place?

Applications for the Shadowing Scheme usually close in mid-November. The Shadowing Scheme itself takes place at the start of the new year. Check the CUSU Shadowing Scheme website for specific details.
